Jack Cheevers will be a different kind of governor for a better New York State. He is a man who has followed the ups and downs of Albany political machine over the years and has witnessed more downs than ups. He has seen the tax structure contribute to not only the steady erosion of property values in most of the state, but also the relentless exit of this state's most valuable asset - its young people. People are stuck with their homes because they can't sell them for as much as they paid for them. With absurd tax policies driving away industry faster that we can afford to buy it back with give-away tax incentives, our young people can't find jobs and are looking elsewhere to build their families and their future. Hanging like a dark storm cloud over all of this is a corrupt and inept state government that has been unable to produce an "on time" budget for 17 consecutive years. In the meantime, the deficit grows, now approaching $40 billion. The legislature marches in an enforced lockstep using chairmanships, bonuses and stipends to keep every member in line with the leadership - no innovation, no fresh thinking. New York is state of government by the politicians, of the politicians and for the politicians. It is a state without leadership and without a vision for the future.
